Hey Everyone,
I'm probably biting off more than I can chew but in the past couple of days I started writing an APRS app for the iPhone. Right now I can connect to an APRS-IS server, filter it, eat the feed and display icons on a google map. I'm pretty pleased with it so far but there is a LOT of work to do!
I'd be interested in hearing the features that you think are needed and "must have" for an iPhone APRS app!
Cheers,
Gary H.

There is already an iphone app.
http://ibcnu.us/
Not that having another app to choose from wouldnt be a good thing but from what I have read, the app author if consistently fighting with apple on updates and the approval process.
Good Luck. If you want to write one for the blackberry I would be interested.

The only thing I can add to this as somewhat of a newbie when it comes to the functionality of iPod apps (and APRS) is maybe make it compatible with other iPod Touch versions if that is even possible. I'm not sure if you can due to the fact that I'm not real knowledgeable on how a lot of the apps work in relation to the hardware/firmware. I tried to download ibcnu and it's only available for 2nd gen iPod Touches.
I realize that to most it might seem kind of pointless (in many ways besides the one I'm about to describe) to use an iPod Touch since it doesn't have a built in GPS but ibcnu apparently allows you to enter in your coordinates manually on a compatible device. I've personally come across some plug-in GPS units along with this: http://gomite.com/locogps.html that would make the touch a little bit more useful in some sort of APRS application.
What would really be great is if someone was able to make these little devices connect to a radio somehow for portable digital mode operation and any sort of signal decoding one might want to do. An 80m Warbler or similar connected to an iPod Touch is something I've been dreaming of for a while.

hmmm I thought I posted this already but I guess not.
The latest screenshot of my app is here:

I hope to get it submitted to the app store within the next week or so. It takes another week or two to get approved.
