Just a thought. You are going to hack and expensive Onstar system to save buying a $65 GPS receiver for APRS?

i think some of you folks need a sense of adventure and a soldering iron. when did you all become "appliance buyers" rather than experimenters? if it box is there and not being used, why not have at it? 73 to my friend above in iraq, :*) jim / n2mpt

Of course, if I don't want the OnStar feature, I'm negotiating the price out of the purchase price of the vehicle...but it's still in the car. Why not make use of it? JD

Onstar is a service that costs money. Some people (like me) do not want the service... so why not? :) Even if one does not pay for the service, in a life and death situation the onstar operator will answer the call and help.
