440 Kenwood and Ameritron Al 811 Reply

I am concerned that I may overdrive the 811 using my
old 440 Kenwood. I plan to connect the ALC to the amp
from the 440. I know of no reduced power setting for SSB other than the mic control. I can tune on cw reduced power with the carrier control I think. Anyone have any experience with this combination?
Any info would be appreciated as my new amp should be here next week.

Thanks,

Frank

I got the amp. Just for information, the method I thought would work with the 440 Kenwood did work just fine. I did connect the ALC from the transceiver to the amp and it does limit the drive with the amp ALC adjustment. I load on CW using the carrier control, and a watt meter.
Then I switch to SSB and use the mic control.
