Installed tower next to house, forgetting the birds.
Result: balcony and roof covered by birds' ejections.
Looking for a device/method to keep birds away from my beams !

One thing that seems to work (for me) is to install a real-looking (but fake) "owl" on top of the antenna mast, above the beams.
Not sure of the French word for owl. If you don't know what an owl is, maybe look in an English dictionary?
Anyway, it seems that most birds are very afraid of owls, and for some reason know what they look like. I have no idea why, although owls are very powerful and deadly predators which can swoop down and kill many kinds of animals (apparently, including other birds!) with their powerful talons (sharp claws) and beaks. At least here in the States, birds seem to be scared to death of owls, and it is common practice to install an artificial owl (a model of an owl, the same size and the same look, but made of polymers and painted in real-looking colors and detail) anywhere you have a "bird problem."
Because these have been so popular with U.S. hams, Amateur Electronic Supply (AES) and some other major distributors used to stock "fake owls" and have them in their catalogs. Maybe they still do!

Ultra sonic devices are available to get rid of birds and other small animals. But I like the "low tech" method idea of a plastic owl or maybe a rubber snake. I have seen plastic owls hanging from elements of a yagi beam and placed on roof tops.

It may be that the fakes aren't available in your neck of the woods. Any bird of prey will do - a falcon, eagle, etc.

I had a problem with birds getting in the back of my gas grill and making a nest on the grate every spring. Whenever I wanted to grill something, I had to clean the debris out of the grill and I couldn't do it too early because they would fill it back up within an hour. A rubber snake laid across the shelf on the side cured the problem 100% the first day it was there.
We also have a fake owl down at the boat dock at the lake and it keeps birds from nesting on the dock.
Hope this info is helpful.

I tried the fake snake, also! They work great, but my cat attacked it and tore it to shreds. (Cats hate snakes.)

I did the owl trick, it works for most birds but not for the sparrows. They literally give a s@$%&t about the owl.
My tower consits of a FB 33 HF bneam and a R8 vertical.
The owl is right above the HF beam, so the sparrows favourite spot is the R8 where they like to be waved slightly in the wind and spread their excrement all over the place.
In that case I would recommend a Remington 870 or better the Mossberg 590 DA pump action shotgun with 9 shot extended capacity. Please check http://www.mossberg.com/pcatalog/Law.htm or http://www.remington.com/firearms/shotguns/870spshot.htm
Sparrows are smart birds, just walking outside with the gun makes them disappear....

At an industrial installation we tie-wrapped a rubber snake to an antenna at the mast and placed plastic snakes throughout a parking garage. Most of the birds stayed away, except the worst offenders of all- pigeons. The pigeons could care less. Next, the owner (automotive) has us order an audio system that produced some varing audio sound that humans could not hear. No effect on the pigeons. The issue was bird droppings are classified as hazardous debris and requires a 'blood-borne pathogen' type clean up proceedure. Suit, gloves, face mast, breathing filter, etc. Oh yeah, a doctors release is required to qualify a person can breath thru a filter assembly without difficulty, any medical issues or harm to the employee. To this day, I do not know how the problem got resolved.
