Serious antenna restrictions Reply
by CHARLOTTE001 on November 9, 2006 Mail this to a friend!
I have one of the most major antenna restrictions available.

The problem is I live in an ground floor, local authority, apartment with no garden no balcony. The local authority won't allow me to put an antenna on the roof of the building so I'm severly restricted on this matter.

I've considered putting a wire horizontally along the wall any advice on this would be great. If I put a wire antenna along the wall I can get it to around 10 feet off the ground otherwise I'm restricted to an internal vertical antenna.

Would a horizontal antenna surfice?

Thanks

Charlotte, you might consider one of these products:

http://www.mfjenterprises.com/products.php?prodid=MFJ-935B

http://www.mfjenterprises.com/products.php?prodid=MFJ-1786X

These are useful for people with severe antenna restrictions wanting to get on HF.

The "Super Hi-Q Loop" works best outside, and can likely be placed somewhere outside in your case because it doesn't look anything like an antenna. You can call it a bird feeder, or a place to hang potted plants, or any number of things.

The Loop Tuner is a special antenna tuner designed to work with short loops. You need this tuner, plus a length of wire (the longer, the better) to run around in a circle or square or any shaped loop, and connect both ends of the wire to the tuner.

The MFJ-935B works surprisingly well. Certainly not as good as a full-size antenna, but not bad. I have a review of it on my website at www.ad5x.com.
