Two New Co-sponsors Pledge Support for HR 2160: Reply

After reading this bill my main impression is, "it's a start."

The bill (a mere six pages) as I interpret it mainly says the government will take a look at Amateur Radio for a greater role in emergency communications as well as any laws affecting Amateur Radio adversely.

It a shame that arrl could not do better than rep. Sheila Jackson Lee. But then again, given arrl's lack of effectiveness, I guess that she is the best the impotent arrl could do. Afterall, 2/3 of hams think arrl has little to no meaningful influence with the feds:

I agree. It's a start. One of the reasons previous attempts to gain support for previous "reasonable accommodation" for antennas, even in HOA neighborhoods, is because these representatives have no idea how bad the problem is becoming in a lot of areas. If a study is done and it states that HOAs are becoming a major obstacle for many amateurs, then they might be more willing to jump on any future legislation.
