Nice article!
Been trying to get my pictorial write up on Dayton the last couple of weeks but won't seem to go through.
None the less! The Air force Museum seems to be the hot attraction in Dayton. It will be my next stop when I visit Dayton again.
Thanks for the picture's!
73's,
Eric

I've been to both the Hamvention and the Air Force Museum and they are both great. Thanks for your pictures!

I've never been to the Hamvention, but I must go sometime.
I have been to the USAF Museum --- twice. Absolutely wonderful --- and the price is right! (Free)

Thanks for letting us tag along on your trip. I am still waiting to make my first trip to Dayton, but the Air Museum is on the list of things to do. I hear it is fabulous.

Nice article, great pictures..
"Who said attendance was down this year? I don't know. They must have been at a different Hamvention."
You must be joking.. Attendance was "way" down, even from last year....
Cheers...

This was a great article Larry!
It is certainly a breath of fresh air from the other articles by bashers and negative minded people we usually see on here.

I attended the 1978 Dayton Ham fest. I was 26 then. Now I'm 57. I remember going to the United States Air Force Museum. In those days they had parked right out front for everyone to see, the one and only XB-70A Valkyrie. She was a Mach 3 bomber. Fortunately she has been moved out of the weather, into a new hanger. As an item of interest, this plane was equipped with a Collins SSB HF rig. It operated on 20 meters. The idea was that if the Valkyrie ever had to make an emergency landing far from home, the pilots could shoot a 20 meter dipole and call home. Of course home would be Edwards Air Force Base in California. Since the pilots weren't Ham's, the F.C.C. granted them a special license. Imagine the Valkyrie operating today with the technology of today. What a Machine that would be.
