'When All Else Fails We Have Ham Radio': Reply
by HFRF on June 30, 2009 Mail this to a friend!
Is this nonsense delusional thinking ever going to end? Ham radio isn't going to save anybody from anything. Ham radio is an old dysfunctional hobby that doesn't work. If it did, you wouldn't see all of those on eham or qrz instead of 80 meters. Hams are even too lazy to build or experiment. They sit in their chairs getting even fatter using modeling software instead of building and testing stuff. Hams can't get along with themselves but they are going to save the world? Pathetic joke!!!!!!!!!

Somebody turn off the broken record.

HAM radio as a public service Reply

At last -- a journalist who writes like he/she is competent on the subject matter!

This article could have been written about my QTH, Colorado Springs. We have an excellent network of weather spotters on 144MHz who work DIRECTLY with the National Weather Service to provide timely information during summer-time storms. Up to several times a week in the warm months, this area experiences thunderstorms which can produce inches of rain within a hour and hail much larger than golf balls. HAMs' on-the-spot reporting of this activity to the NWS helps the NWS update its forecasting AND provide more detailed info in its bulletins/broadcasts to the general public.

During the "Hayman Fire" of 2002, which burned 138,000 acres and caused over 5000 evacuations, HAMs provided constant communication among official emergency agencies battling the fire and it's consequences. Men and women, very skilled in Emergency Communication (eg, ARES), saved lives with their efforts.

Thanks to all those HAMs, across this nation and the world, who devote their time to Emergency communications!!

So... If HFRf really thinks this way towards ham radio, why are you even responding to this web site. why waste your valuable time. Go spout your crap on some other site where there are more people like you. this is a hobby for all ages and abilities and for fun. I am tired of seeing your kind of people on this site spouting off about nothing they know about. and really.... get a real call sign for a user name. hfrf is a really silly and childish. Real hams have real call signs.

Do you think a Mattel technician class is real?

Hmmmm... Lets see, from looking at your bio.. looks like i am the one who has a license, a real one, yes a tech but i am upgrading in august. I enjoy this hobbie and am not ashamed of my tech license. I worked hard and it was an accomplishment for me. So if you want to tear that down too go ahead. Like i said, looks like i am the one who has a real license here.

There are three classes of FCC Amateur Radio Service license, plus the older grandfathered classes. Any one of those classes is just as 'REAL' as the others.

The "older grandfathered licenses" (who said they were grandfathered?) are the real licenses. The "new and totally unimproved licenses" are by Mattel. A toy is a toy by any other name.

Eham is an internet site. You don't need to identify by call letters. You clowns who try their lame attempts to force people to do what they want are just stupid. I decide what I do , not you. You are irrelevant and what you want is meaningless. Sometimes I can't figure out why I skim the garbage on this site.
