I sent the following E-Mail to Kenwood a week or so ago. Todate, I have not received a reply:
I purchased a TS 2000 at the end of 2006.
I am now trying to us my TS2000 in amateur radio low earth orbit satellite communications.
Two of the satellites I'm trying to use transmit on or near 436.800 Mhz FM (SO-50 and AO27).
I cannot receive signals from these satellites because of the internal beat at 436.799 (436.800) Mhz.
How can I eliminate the internal 436.799 Mhz beat signal?
Please advise.

Note: Page 103 of the TS2000 Instruction manual mentions several internal beat tones and says:
On some spots of the transceiver bands, the S-meter moves or you cannot receive any signals. This is inevitable when you use superheterodyne receivers......
I have checked all the frequencies listed and in my case, the only frequency which generates an internal beat tone which blocks reception is 436.800 Mhz +/- several Khz.

In short, you can't get rid of that birdie. You can overcome it to some extent with a good preamp and antenna to get the received signal robust enough to overcome the birdie. I have also had some luck working folks as the satellite is descending. The birdie is more pronounced on ascent than descent. Ain't modern digital technology great!

Thanks for the info. & will try your suggestions.
I can see that I might get away from the TS2000 tone frequency when the bird is flying away from my station.
I have a Down East Microware Low Noise amplifier on the UHF downlink.

Worked my first SO-50 qso when the satellite was moving away from my station and doppler shift was below the bird's transmit frequency.
