I wonder what commercial antennas are holding up in the weather conditions and seem to keep hanging in there on some of the big stations?

I would agree. My force 12 has been thru 5 hurricanes and still no problems. Ther are lots of other manufacters that I'm sure other contesters prefer. It also has to do with your budget,location and space for the antenna. While a Force 12 works well for me. Your conditions may dictate otherwise. By the way I have not had any dealings with Force 12 since the company was sold anybody done business with them recently? Good luck 73 Joe Patrick K4XZ

I've got KLMs, M2s, Cushcraft, Force 12, and Butternuts and they are all doing just fine.

I had a Hy-Gain TH3 for 35 years up 60ft with no problems. Found a new in box,never used TH7DX made in 1980 by Hy-Gain (the original not MFJ) it's been up for 6 years with no problems. I think the name brands that have been around for several years are doing ok.

Force 12 or why bother! No traps, not moving parts, no tuner needed, just plain old fashion quality engineering and construction. Mine has withstood many years of Mojave desert heat and high winds and still performs 100%. Many trapped yagis around here have died or needed repair. Forget quads in high winds. Had one. Lasted 2 years before started falling apart. Tried beams with this and that and were hard to tune and touchy to operate.

Check out Mosley. Super heavy duty antennas. Mine have been up for 20 years and survived all of the Gulf hurricanes (7 miles from the Gulf), even the 40 meter antenna. I have 6 towers up and the only antennas that never require care after a bad storm are the Mosley HF antennas and the M2 UHF/VHF/SHF antennas. I have a barn full of the pieces of the antennas that won't last. De AB5GU
