Contesting for the Disabled Ham Reply

I've been doing contesting for nearly 9 years now, and because of physical problems that led to SS Disability 4 years ago, I just don't have the stamina to do as well as I used to do. I'm writing to encourage the Disabled among us who love contesting that you can lower your expectations without lowering your enjoyment. Consider the following tips:

1. Remember, it's for FUN!
2. Take frequent breaks.
3. Tune carefully, and above all, relax!
4. Quality vs. quanity-multipliers instead of sheer volume.
5. Don't beat yourself to death in pileups.
6. If you get overly tired, take a longer break!
7. You don't HAVE to turn in a log!

This might be an interesting thing to bring up to Handi-Hams. Perhaps they could sponsor a "sprint" for members.

Be careful where you post on eHam about your handi-capable situation. There are a half dozen hams on eHam who feel that the handi-capable ham is just in it for "freebies" or sympathy. Some will even label you are particular political persuasion without even knowing you.

Don't let 'em get to you.
