Field Day Exchange Reply

I've read the ARRL rules for the contest exchange for Field Day but I'm still confused. My station will be 1 person operating class B with a Battery. Do I exchange '1 bravo Ohio' or '1 bravo battery Ohio' or '1 bravo bravo Ohio'?

Just 'One Bravo Ohio'.

You don't have to distinguish between 'Battery',
'Commercial', or 'Emergency Power'.

Same boat here. The rules say 1B entries will be broken down into single operator and 2-operator. Does that mean the exchange is 1B1 or just 1B? Seeing results from last year they are indeed broken out by 1B1 and 1B2.

The exchange used during the contest does not define the exact operating category. The distinction between 1 operator or 2 operators, or between battery or generator, is only made when you submit your results to the ARRL.

As I usually operate with a club, we use however many stations are on the air in our category, such as 5A(alpha), 4E(echo)... the ARRL sets down the categories you may want to operate, it is up to you to define your station once on the air.

For the Battery Class... 1 Operator or 2... Wouldn't that be 1B and the location? For example if I were operating class 1B or 2B from South Texas... my exchange would be "KD5KJD 1B South Texas" or "KD5KJD 2B South Texas".

Although I will admit to recently hearing VHF/UHF stations on FD adding their Maidenhead Grid Square to the exchange. This I find helpful as it aids in tracking the band opening(s) or the type of propagation. In this case, the exchange would be "KD5KJD 1 Bravo South Texas, Echo Lima two nine."

Come to think of it, that is quite a bit of information.
