TX QSO Party Reply

I was a ham for about one month last year when I worked this countest. Looking forward to doing it again.
I have made a powerpoint presentation of most of the mobile routes for this year. One page for each mobile operator showing their route which makes it much easier to work all their counties. If you would like a copy just email me at kd8izz at yahoodotcom.
I also have a google earth kml file of all the TX counties where you can manipulate the color of the individual counties. I use this to keep track of the counties I have worked.

I'm also interested in your opinion on this state contest. It looks like one of the biggest, and the homepage is professionally done. Lots of mobiles advertised. It shouldn't be hard to work 100 stations. There's a whole lot of counties to work!

Of course, the Texas QSO Party is the BEST! OK, I may be a bit biased. A state QSO party is only as good as it's organizer and Texas is lucky to have one of the best.

Look for me covering WTX on CW Saturday and Sunday. Right now 253 out of 254 counties should be activated. The last county is near San Antonio so it's expected someone will put it on too.

This was my first year to run in TxQP. I'd intended to last year, but IKE washed out those plans.

There was a lot of preparation necessary to run mobile, and despite some last minute problems we were on the road, albeit way behind schedule.

I used CW only. Each time I crossed into a new county and called my CQ, I was in a world of pile ups. This is an entirely new thing for me, and I'm fairly new to code also.

Milam, Shackelford and Jones county must have been desired targets. Those were especially pile up oriented I worked as many as I could at my snail's pace of 20 wpm.

This weekend I am taking it easy to recover. I came back very tired, and still had to go to work during the week.

I am already planning my route for next year. It was a blast.

In the meantime I may do the LaQP and OKQP.

I agree with N5NA about the organization of the Texas QSO Party.

The Northwest ARS has done a fantastic job organizing and
promoting the event.

The maps on the TQP web site indicating the routes of all the
mobiles that submitted their plans on a timely basis must have
required a lot of work.

We're very blessed to have event sponsors with the skills
and willingness to do all that, as well as talking up the event
at hamfests and club meetings.

Scott,

As you may know, Chuck NO5W does most of the work behind the TQP coordination. He puts in many, many hours and travels many miles to promote TQP throughout the year. Others--past and present--contribute time and skills in various ways, such as TXQP.net and W5NC.net web publishing, etc. but Chuck's efforts are what make it happen. Plus he takes a lot of his time to help individuals prepare for other contesting throughout the year--not just TQP.
