Is there any "freeware" or even "shareware" out there that will support the following:
1)Filtering of DX spots country/band/mode/beacons etc.
2)Based on the above, send email notifications when spots are found.
I have seen VE7CC's program which runs on your PC. I dont see any capability for email notifications in this program or have I missed something ?

Stephanie,
I don't have an answer to your question, but I will add my 2 cents in anyway!
I primarily use the DX Summit web site at http://oh2aq.kolumbus.com/dxs/
You can get spots for either HF or VHF. Furthermore, you can just ask for phone or CW spots. You can also get spots by band, but it doesn't break them down by mode. You can also get spots for Beacon, Digital, IOTA, QRP, Satellite and Mobile. These spots are in real time and are updated every few minutes.
Whith all due respect, it seems that getting spots by email is rather inefficient. It would seem that by the time you are sent the spot and it makes it's way into your system and assuming you get it in a timely manner, the DX could be gone. Since you need to be at your computer anyway to receive your email, why not just go to an online site and get them that way?
Good DX!

Stephanie -
I agree with Scott that emails may be inefficient, but if you really want to try this, check out DX Central
www.dx-central.com
This site seems to do what you want--filter by band and mode (SSB or CW--no digital), and can send emails when spots of specific DXCC entities are found.
They're not very prompt, though. The fastest appears to be once per hour.

Go to the DX tab.
Click the "Set Alarm" button.
Set email. Any spot matching the alarm setting will generate an email.

Hi Stephanie,
You should check the site www.dxwatch.com
Once you get registered you may setup filters that can be forwarded to you via email, icq, cellphone or pager.
If you have any doubts, please let me know.
73,
Felipe - PY1NB
