Due to the earth quake that has claimed 12,000 people and climbing hams have been working with their govermental agencies using 7.050 - 7.060 and has asked other Amateurs to assist by keeping them clear.
Its been asked to spread the word and being that there's no telling where signals might open up to keep in mind that anything is possible and your CQ on these frequencies can stir up activity.
Please spread the word and please respect their time in need.
Thanks!
N2RRA and BD5RV

Your attention please! 14.270Mhz is now reserved for ARES in 5.12 earth quake in Sichuan, China. Please help to keep this frequency clear.
A group of radio amateurs is now transmitting from Wenchuan, the center of quake. Its signal is reported to be very weak. They tried to keep communication with BY8AA in Chengdu, seeking for all resources needed. During a contact finished a few minutes ago, they were asking for raincoats, water, tents, and outdoor living facilities.
PLEASE HELP TO FORWARD THIS MESSAGE TO ALL RELEVANT FORUMS, MAILING LISTS, AND NEW RESOURCES. MEANWHILE, KEEP THE ABOVE FREQUENCY CLEAN FOR EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION.

I'm just curious as to where these messages came from originally? A news story, an e-mail, or some reputable organization like the ARRL or the chinese equivalent?
Although I'll avoid those frequencies (no big deal and I'd hate to interfere with emergency communications), without attribution it sounds like another urban myth spread via the internet.

OK... attribution:
BD5RV is a Chinese ham, Michael Chen, listed as living in Nanjing, China. He refers to two other Chinese hams operating on 40 meters and a 2-meter repeater respectively.
There are a number of other Chinese hams who have left messages on the QRZ forums with similar information.
Doesn't sound like an urban myth anymore.
