Yet another All Time New One for me! Got em on 20m SSB this afternoon (in the log at 20:48) simplex, and rather weak, maybe 53 - 55. However - about 10 min. later they were 57 - 59 here in S.C. and working 5 - 10 up, with a huge pile. Guess I got lucky this time. I was hoping to work em on CW as I thought that would be easier, early in the expedition. Now, I can try to get the other bands/modes at my leisure. Good Luck to all who need them! Gene

These are good ops. Although there was a lot of demand on 30m this morning, they had great ears and heard even my rather modest station...
BTW - Haru, JA1XGI was my first Lord Howe, operating as VK9GLX. It was memorable because the QSO was at 03:00 in TX, on PSK31 with 20W.
GL to all getting this one! de David, AB0Z

I chased them on 40CW yesterday morning, but they had a screaming pileup, couldn't get thru. Went to 30CW where the pileup was more tame and ended up getting them rather quickly. I was thrilled as it was an all time new one. I also got Uzbekistan the night before on 40CW for an all time new one.

They were really loud the first morning on 40M CW, but were working a string of JA's. I have VK9L from 2005 on 30M only, would love to pick up some other bands and SSB somewhere.

There's now an online logsearch up and running. Unfortunately for me they have my call wrong (KN9 instead of KB9) in the log. I'll have to try and work them again.

I heard them the best the first day on 20m, around 20:00 when I was mobile. But I didn't have any luck, and by the time I got home, they had pretty much faded out, at least they did on my dipole.
I've heard them on 40m in the mornings, very lite, but I finally managed to get them on 40m ssb, 3/26 around 12:00. :-)
With my antennas, it's probably the only qso I'll get.
73, Tom

Hmm.... Looks like my 20m SSB QSO is not in the online log. There is a comment saying the first 400 QSOs were logged on paper and will have to be transfered to their computer before they will show up online. My 20m CW QSO is in the online log though. Good luck to all! Gene

I finally got through about 1200UTC on 40M CW this morning. Far and away 40M at that time is a veritable pipleline to Australia and New Zealand, very very reliable for me. 20M on the gray line also happens, but I have had a few truly oddball 20M contacts well after sundown to NZ and Australia too, I have no idea what propogation that is, they just come up out of nowhere in the night, it's astonishing. 80M is also reliable around sunset/sunrise but not as easy as 40M.
Having the CQ WPX on phone really helps thin the pileups on the CW bands :-).

I suspect Es <-> F2 hookup, but I'm really not sure.
