The NG3K site is reporting that the Glorioso expedition is once again on the schedule! Dates are July 9th to July 28th of 2009. Sure hope I can snag this one for an all-time New One! 73, de Gene AF3Y

This is really good news. Glorioso would be an alltime new DXCC counter for me, too. (I do have a card from DJ6SI's 1992 expedition to FR/g that ARRL did not sanction).

Given their antenna plan and the demand for this one, the 3-4 people on the expedition will be plenty busy, and there will be rip-roaring pileups from start to finish. Good luck to all!

Chuck NI0C

I need this as well for a new one. It's going to be ugly but I am not going to hold my breath to see if it does happen

Just so long as the operators attempt to get the Europeans to stand-by (or at least make a valiant effort in that regard), I don't think they'll be too hard to work. 15 and 17 should be good around 1600z and 20 from about 1600-2300z in the northeast.

They say they're going to be on Glorioso for about 3 weeks--plenty of time for demand to slacken off enough to let smaller stations have a shot of at least one QSO.

After waiting quite a few frustrating days with the TO4E dx-pedition, they made a great effort during the West Coasts morning grey line - and many West Coast stations worked them on 30M.

For this DX-pedition, it won't be as easy - since we will be past the winter low band DX season.

I think we (on the West Coast) will need some sunspots for this one. My order has been placed . . . .

There's word out this morning that the operation has been delayed yet again. According to information on their Website, it may begin by late August, though possibly later. They're rebuilding the runway on the island at the moment.

There are two nice upsides, though; two more operators will be there and propagation should be better than it would have been in July. Maybe even some 80 and 160 will be possible.

I realize that France owns/claims(?) both of the islands. However, according to what I can find, the only military presence there is a French Foreign Legion detachment manning a "meteorlogical station". How big can that be?? A map shows it on the north end of the largest island, and the runway located about the middle of the island. If the military continues to cancel/postpone this expedition, WHY cant a CIVILIAN group go to the other island (or the SOUTH END of this island) and get it on?? No one lives there, according to wikipedia, but birds and a turtle or two. Oh well, who the he-- am I to say anything... Just an old ham hungry for some decent DX, I guess. This one is almost as bad as the C21 expedition, "on again, off again". I will believe either of these when they actually go QRV. Hi Hi 73, de Gene AF3Y

It will no doubt be a lot better trying to work them in the Fall or Winter anyway . . . both low bands and high bands.
