I have managed to confirm every entity that I have worked with at least one qsl card from each. That took a lot of work, and a lot of $$$$$ for postage. However, in trying to expand my collection, I have been having great difficulty getting a card out of SV5TS, ZC4MK, HV3SJ (SK -- logs lost, ain't happening), and a few others that are not coming to mind right now. Postal theives in Eastern EU sure are not helping, which is what I think the problem is for the SV5 qso. My other SV5 qso was with a couple of guys from the Czech Republic who went there on a dxpedition. My suggestion is if you are having difficulty in getting cards from entities that you worked, work someone else from that entity. Unless of course it's Mt. Athos, then you are basically in a pickle. (Keep trying. I am sure you will get your card eventually), or the person responsible for QSLing is either SK or disinterested anymore.

Problem confirming Egypt. Worked the same SU guy twice. Sent cards, $$s, and emailed, (no response) but NO card, and its been a year or so. Some SU hams have a lighthouse DXpedition coming up. Maybe I can make it then? Gene

Chasin the DX is great, you never know when something will pop up. The other day got JD1BIE for #286 on 30M at 11:00 Z 30M CW. I did briefly hear the DU1 station on the air, and he does set up scheds, so I probably should get in touch with him.....there are some other stations that I wished I recently had been able to reach for new ones, a YJ0, 9V1.

Reading through this topic makes me realize even more that there is a LOT of Luck and Timing involved, besides our skills(?) in grabbing that New Rare One. I had no problems working/confirming the YJ, DU, SV5, ZC4 and HV(couple different Q's from Vatican), BUT I have never even heard a JD1. I have worked entities all around him, but maybe the DX gods are just not smiling on me for that one. Still, with 251 worked and 245 confirmed since I started chasing DX in March of 2006 I feel I am doing "OK" with the condx as is. There's a couple active and a bunch of upcoming potential New Ones available shortly for me too! (S9,8Q,C2,TZ,FR/G,SU,3A,FO0A,K4M and TY) Come ON Sunspots!! 73, de Gene AF3Y

Vince, I'm somewhat surprised that Crete is a problem for you. I've had great luck over the years confirming them on 7 bands, even 160. SX5P was very active in '07, too. A number of contest operations come on from SV5, with a few using the J45 prefix.
The Vatican's another one I'm surprised you're having trouble with. There've been a good number of HV operations in the last 2 years and Francisco's a very good QSLer. He also uploads to LoTW regularly.
My hardest one to QSL for a new one was Comoros. I got on the air post-D68C, and the only operation since then that I'm aware of was Vlad in 2007. I finally got D60VB confirmed last week but not until I'd sent many requests for it and a few other needed cards to him. JD1/M (Minami Torishima) came back in about a month, but I've had no luck getting Ogasawara confirmed and that's my only current outstanding entity. For whatever reason, both JD1 entities do seem to be active somewhat regularly, but never with an eye to North America for whatever reason.
The last tough one to confirm for me was Jan Mayen, which took just a little over a year to get confirmed.

Had a case of auldphart's disease in the above post. I meant Dodecanese (SV5) not Crete (SV9)!

A ZD7 who shall remain nameless. SASE's with IRC's, and Green Stamps, all go unanswered.

REPLY: I have worked them, oh, yes. It's just been difficult getting a cards from them. If it weren't for those Czech dudes that went there in 02, I would still be in need of it. I don't know what has happened to Vasilis, SV5TS??? He was very active back when I worked him, but I have been having trouble getting a card out of him. This after sending my card countless times via the buro and direct w/$$$ in it (Postal Thieves???)...Does anyone know if he is still active, or (dare I say it) still around (in the hobby, that is....Let's be positive)???
The Vatican's another one I'm surprised you're having trouble with. There've been a good number of HV operations in the last 2 years and Francisco's a very good QSLer. He also uploads to LoTW regularly.
REPLY: I have HV4NAC confirmed from 1998 (or was it 97?). But every time HV0A (or some other special HV call) is on in recent years, I either can't hear him, or the pile up is too big. I know Francesco is very astute with his qsling. That's not the problem. But I have just not been able to get through. Until condx get better, that will be the issue.
It's my own fault with many of these. HV3SJ was one I should have jumped on way back in '92 when I worked him (actually, I thought I did). Now he's SK and the logs from that time have vanished. SV5TS I didn't realize was separate from Greece in the entity department back in '92 when i worked him, so I didn't pursue that one with enough zeal either. That is until recently (in the last 6 years or so). There's a lesson to be learned here. Ya snooze, ya looze!!!!!...:-(....

I have a number of outstanding new DXCC's currently in the mail (4 went in the mailbox this afternoon),
but they are from advertized dxpeditions, but two I just cannot find info for are
New Caledonia and Pakistan.
Maybe I got the calls wrong, maybe I imagined them both.
They may have been pirates and were both about 3 years ago.
Just don't know. I'm chalking them up as an
"Aw ****"

AP2JZB, Bob, from a QSO in 2002. I've tried direct, registered mail (never got there), his ex-QSL manager, and emails to other AP hams (via their Amateur Radio Society web site).
Also, I don't believe he's been active for quite some time and no one seems to know his status.
