I dont really care much about 6 meter DX, but I need Mali, as it's one of the 4 or 5 Africans I have not worked/confirmed. I have put together a 6 meter delta loop and hope I can snag em. My C-3SS will work on 6 meters, but not really well. I have worked Sable Island and St. Barts on 6m with the beam, but that's it. The write-up for the Mali expedition states they will work "some HF", so that might have to be my chance. Think the delta loop can do the trick from my QTH in South Carolina?? 73, Gene AF3Y

Well, it looks like this one is not doing well at all on 6 meters. Their RTTY on 20m is not really burning the barn either, at least per the spots that I can find.
Wish they would crank up CW on a workable band. I understand they have antennas for 20m and 17m and 15m(?). 20 and 17 both should be productive here on the E. coast.
Shame the 6m gods are not smiling on them. That is a long trip to not make a bunch of QSOs. As mentioned above, I dont care about 6m (or 2m) at all. When I got my Tech ticket I did not buy a handie talkie, as I knew I wanted to work HF, period. Perhaps if I live long enough to get 5BDXCC, 5BWAS, 5BWAZ, etc. etc. Then, I might want to work 6m. I have a few 6m Qs in the log, but only because there was nothing else to work as far as new DX that day. 73, Gene

"Shame the 6m gods are not smiling on them."
Yesterday morning they had an opening to NA. I missed it :(
"That is a long trip to not make a bunch of QSOs."
Yeah, but if you are catering to a niche like 6m DXing when condx only support Sporadic E, focusing on the static is the right thing to do.
The same goes for focusing on 160m for the toughest paths and things like that.
TZ will be on again.
"As mentioned above, I dont care about 6m (or 2m)"
Wait for it. It'll come.

AF3Y thanks for the insult. do you really think using a 2m HT is anywhere near the same as working DX on 6m.
maybe you have no intrest in 6m because you can not cut it as a dx'er.
VHF is where the real OP's cut there Teeth anyone can string a bit of wire into the back of there rig and work the world on 20m.
Remember the main reason for the TZ expedition is to activate the country on 6m, same with the V29 and 8R ones also on.
when you work DXCC on 6m you have achieved something not like on hf where you could do 2 or 3 band dxcc in a contest weekend.
im in my second year on 6m I only run 100w to a 6 el and have worked 73 countries but its easier for us in europe.

Latest news from the Glorioso team is they have decided NOT to try any 6 meter activity. Conditions are not favorable. This should free up more time for 160-10!
