Interesting propagation

I had an interesting couple of hours of propagation on Friday, June 19. At about 2200, I saw a few spots of Europe on 10 meters so I flipped up there without even turning on the amp. Sure enough, I quickly worked France, Serbia and Italy and then France again--the latter two on SSB--with 100 watts, and most on the first call. Next, I noticed a spot on 12, so I went there and worked EA1DR on CW on the first call, again with 100 watts.
There were no signals on 15 at all so I dropped down to 17 SSB and had a nice chat with Mike, SV9CVY, on Crete. Next, I went to 20 meters and talked with Branko, S59PC for a few minutes, again easy copy both ways on SSB.
Only then did I realize that I had worked Europe on 10, 12, 17 and 20 within an hour and a half and with just 100 watts...on a day when the solar flux was 68!
Now I wish I had called CQ or done more listening on 15 and 30. I don't think the QRN would have allowed Europe on 40 or 75/80 that day and time, but it would have been fun to try. Anybody else have similar experiences?

I often go to 15 meters on a day off just after 10:00 AM. Many times I have gone through the band top to bottom and not heard a signal, however as soon as I call CQ I will get a response. Many times it is DX on CW or phone. Last week just before the contest, I generated a small pile-up. The art of calling CQ seems to have been lost.

There has been some decent propagation from my
location in Pennsylvania to Europe on 10 lately.
June 17
Italy 10ph
Spain 10ph
Malta 10cw
June 19
Spain 10cw
Sicily 10cw
Sardinia 10cw
Montenegro 10cw
France 10cw
All with 100 watts and either a 4 BTV or an
88' homemade doublet inverted V @ 25' agl.
Ain't 10 fun ???

This is the sporadic E season. East Coasters have been working Europe on six meters for weeks. Sporadic E openings are often available for 10, 12 and 15, even when six isn't open.
Check the DX Sherlock pages to see sporadic E openings between the US and Europe and between the US and Asia.

Yep, I'm very familiar with sporadic E on 6M and 10M, but have not been aware of working it for any distance on 12M or lower in the spectrum. I know it can occur all the way down to 20M, but its effect on those lower bands is to allow for very strong signals among stations who usually skip right over each other.
I worked Portugal tonight on both 10 and 12, both without the amp. It could easily have been Es since power did not seem to be a big factor. I did not hear any other DX at all but both bands had lots of weaker stateside signals, mostly in the midwest and northeast.
Whatever it is, let's have some more of it.

It goes down even further.
There was plenty of Sporadic E in the 1-10MHz range on 19 Jun:

Of course, you don't need it to work Europe on the lower bands, but it is active down there.
