Well, I said I was gonna wait until the first of next week, right?? Come on now, you know a crazed DXer cant just go back upstairs and watch Bonanza or Andy Griffith, with Glorisio lurking. Besides, as LOUD as they were, I thought "What if they arent this loud later?". In other words, "Strike while the Iron (DX, that is) is HOT. I Nailed em!
This one was pure LUCK and a KW to help. Try as I might, I could not establish any kind of pattern as to how he was traversing the split. SO - I spun the big knob and after about 10 or 12 trys, I got him about 7 or so up. Now I can relax and see about some other band/modes. GOOD LUCK to all. If you can get to your rig, right now (2130) is a good time to try. Still NA NA and LOUD. Gene

Gene -
So I can have a point of reference on the loud signal you heard this afternoon, aside from the KW, what are your working conditions there (antenna, height)?
Thanks and 73,
Richard

OK, I snagged em on 20m CW. Station here is Icom Pro III driving a Tokyo Hy Power 2.5 KFx amp. Antenna is a Force 12 mini tri-bander up about 45 feet. QTH is about 1/2 way between Columbia and Charleston, SC, on the Eastern side of Lake Marion. Good luck to all. Gene

You should never wait until the next week....
Says the guy who's waiting till the next week.
But I'm out of town and have worked FR/G once, so I don't count ;-)
But you're right... how are you supposed to wait when they're there and loud, and why should you? They might get another windstorm and *poof*, that's all she wrote.
Congrats!

For a rare one like Glorioso, you should go for an insurance QSO on another band and mode. I would not "sit back" until that too is in the log.

Positively! I am not going to "back off" yet. At least until I see this 20 CW QSO in THEIR log. I am very comfortable that it was a good contact, but with the melee they had yesterday, I wont really relax until I see it there. Hopefully they will post logs soon.

Congrats, Gene.
I could hear them pretty good on 20m cw from the mobile around 2030. But I was at work (a quick trip outside to the pickup), a TS-120 doesn't do split, and I don't keep a bug in the truck anyway.
Probably saved myself some aggravation from trying to slip in between THAT pileup from a mobile.
Naturally, by the time I got to the house, around 2200, they were gone.
I listened on 40m, might have even heard them. I couldn't really tell with all the idiots on frequency.

OK, their log is now on line, and my20m CW QSO is IN THEIR LOG. Now, I can relax a bit. I listened to them working SSB this afternoon. What a zoo. Nothing new, I guess, just more of the same and a bigger crowd doing it. Good Luck to all who need them! Gene
