PK232 software Reply

I'll apreciate any info on where to find any (old) version of "PC PAKRATT for Windows" higher than mine wich is 1.00A: it works fine but there are some minor incompatibilities on display with Windows 98se I use.

Actually the display problem is minor, so I don't want to buy the newest available version.

Pakratt for Windows was discontinued in June of 2001, it is no longer sold or supported. It's 16 bit, so it runs in the 16 vdm of Windows 98.

Why not look at Pkterm for Windows, which is the 32-bit Windows program for your Pk-232? You can download a 30 day fully functional demo at:

Use the following link to download a free program called Logger. http://www.kc4elo.com/page3.html I use the older ver 8.07 16-bit program as it is very stable and after 2 years of use no bugs have been found. Not only is it a very good logging program but the built in data terminal for use with any TNC is great! You can download Logger32 but the data terminal has issues with Pactor mode and the screen echo has a bug that will not allow the Back space key to operate properly so you can't backup and correct mistakes. Best to just go with the older program. There is a steep learning curve when you start programming the micros. Basically you use a script style form of programming them. All you do is enter the TNC and program commands just as you would manually enter commands in a dumb terminal type program. This takes a few hours if you write your own micros for all the available modes. You can get general use files for the PK-232 to get you started and see how they work. Once you get the hang of it you can program them on the fly. I have one that allows me to enter all the calls in a RTTY round table. Press one button and all the calls are sent which really helps. The program also supports transceiver control and logs frequency, band, and mode from the transceiver. The program also supports Zakanaka, a very good sound card program for PSK-31, which also supports logging with Logger. As it's a free program just download it and give it a try. Once you learn this program you will never use anything else with your TNC! This program works great under WIN95 and WIN98se. I have never tryed it under WINXP.

Kenny -

IF you are using a computer with Windows XP operating system, than you should seriously look at CSS latest software version (replaced earlier 16-bit versions).

November 26, 2008 — Creative Services Software, Inc. (CSS) today announced a special upgrade offer for licensed users of HostMaster, KaWin, KaGOLD, PkGOLD and PC PakRatt software. With a valid serial number for any of these older MS-DOS and Windows 3.1-based products, users can upgrade to CSS’ Radio Operations Center (ROC) Digital Desktop™.

Download the 30-day free trial and see how you like it.
