I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to what TNC modem to use?
I'm looking for portability with a laptop and something I can interface with my TH-F6A.

You can build your own Packet modem and run Baycom software with it. The software loads the TNC program in memory and uses a MX-COM MX614P Modem Chip as a modem. The power source for the modem is via the serial port it's connected to. It's for 1200 baud AX-25 packet. The chip and data sheet in available on the TAPR web site at
http://www.tapr.org/tapr/html/Ffirmware.html
The Baycom software is free at http://www.baycom.org/
It's so small you can load DOS boot files and the program on a 1.44 floppy so your laptop is the TNC with a built in screen and keyboard!

I understand that you don't need a TNC, but how can I get my TH-F6a to communicate? I've tried all the settings I know to change and nothing, all it does is act like a beacon, transmitting for a split second about every second or so.
So being you don't need a TNC with MixW, how do you make it work my my Kenwood. I've looked through the help files and tride to find forums and I can't find anything.
