Hello All,
I am leading my local radio club with planing for Field Day for this upcoming year. One of the things that we would like to add is digital mode contacts. During Field Day, which mode is more popular, PSK31 or RTTY? We will run both, but I am curious which one has more activity so we can plan accordingly. The RTTY Round Up last weekend that operated in, of course had more RTTY stations than PSK.
Thanks,
Mark, K9MQ

We're planning on running PSK31 at our digital mode station. We didn't run digital at all last year.

We ran PSK-31 last year and had a great time, and we DID make a lot of contacts. However, there were times when it seemed like we'd already worked everyone that was active on PSK-31, and had to wait for propagation to shift so we could work new stations.
Next year, we plan on running PSK-31 and shifting to CW during the lulls... but we could just as easily shift to RTTY. If I remember correctly, CW, PSK-31, and RTTY all count as digital, so it should be possible to shift modes and maintain digital credit without having another 'station' on the air.

Hi,
This will be our fourth year running Digital
for field day W4DW club station.
Every year gets better as more
stations run digital.
We did try some RTTY but PSK31 got more
contacts from our area.
