Hello everyone,
As we approach the minimum sunspot activity this is the first time that users will have experienced the extreme QSB which is occuring on all bands.
In some cases the QSB is so extreme that stations vanish into the ether in a matter of minutes, and often, due to QSB and QRM, all that appears on the screen is jumble of unintelligable letters.
In this situation, if you are attempting to contact a DX station which is calling CQ, ask the station quickly
if they can copy, and if, and when, they reply, send your information quickly.
In poor conditions there is no time for a rambling "thanks for the call, nice to meet you today its snowing outside, etc. etc" During the time you send that, the QSB is working against you.
Put in your macro, your name, your QTH, your locator number, and your state, not NC or WA, and your county, then BTU. If the contact has missed something, send it again.
If you send my call is WXY 123, WXY 123, WXY 123
name is Bill, Bill, Bill Bill
QTH is Frederickshamburger, Frederickshamburger, Frederickshamburger and all the rest, by the time all that has been sent, all the person gets at the other end is a jumble of undecipherable letters.
Like they say at the local supermarket "When its gone, its gone "

If you use PSK63 instead, it all goes much faster.
Digipan has PSK63, so does MixW and other popular software.

I totally agree with Mel. And I also can't understand other operators sending LONG macros as answer on a very short report. If you see form DX station very short info then reply with short info especially in strong QSB.
And when conditions are good, I'll take time to type with keyboard and try not to use too much of macros. Then PSE excuse my typing as I have forgotten a lot of my English. :(
