There is no such animal.
MT63 is a soundcard mode and the other three are TNC-required. While there are several TNCs that run Pactor 1 and 2, Pactor 3 requires a separate Pactor 3 TNC and there is only one supplier.

Who else (besides SCS) makes a Pactor-II modem? A number make Pactor-I modems but I've never seen one for Pactor-II.

Bob,
I thought AEA could upgrade the PK232 to Pactor II. Maybe it's only Pactor I and I'm suffering from old-timer's illness. :)

" Thanks to all. I guess I need to visit the SCS site, huh?"
YUP, and get your pocket picked when you buy one!
Thank you ARRL for helping to lock SCS's monopoly in as the sole supplier of these devices!

Actually you will find the SCS modems quite good - really "top of the line". Given what is inside them and the fact that they are not selling millions of them a WalMart, the price is pretty fair. Hams pay that much or more for plenty of other equipment without complaining.
The AEA upgrade is for Pactor-I only.

SCS modems are priced starting at $888 and going up to $1248. Is that really affordable? Not everyone can afford top-of-the-line.
And, we are locked into a single supplier! Maybe, if Walmart sold them, there would be more than one supplier and, that would drive the price WWWAAAAYYYY down.

Dennis:
Give it a break. We've heard all this from you for months on end.
Why should a company develop something and then give it away to the world? They are in the business to sell a product and make money.
You don't like the price, don't buy the product.

Dennis, if you can't afford "top of the line" then you can't afford Pactor II or III. Stick with PSK31 where the software is free and the hardware is a $15 sound card.
