FT-847 on PSK-31? Reply
by N3RC on November 3, 2008 Mail this to a friend!
Getting back on air on PSK-31 after a few years off. Using FT-847 which has no vox. Any recommendations on sound card/usb based hardware/software that will work easily with the FT-847? Have old Kamplus but looks like much easier to buy new hardware.

hi Roger,

VOX is not needed if you use the
signalink interface from Tigertronics.

the newest model is usb and has sound card built in.

I use the older sl 1+, both do not need any
serial ports to work.

VOX is not requied if you make your own interface using a single common transistor, a couple of diodes, a resistor, and a few connectors--all for LESS than 5 bucks.

Google 'sound card interfaces' for schematics on making your own interface for far less money than buying the commercial made units.

Off-the-wall:

. . . Why not use a footswitch? Step on it when sending.

I'm using a BuxComm Rascal, which has a line to key the rig. I think it's the least expensive of the commericial interfaces.
