I just recently aquired a PacComm Pico Packet. a nice small compact device. the model I have, from what searching I can have down does have the built in GPS unit and a slide on 6VDC battery.
It came with the cables to connect it to the pc and a handheld radio.
what I am looking for is a manual and some information on this unit. what else do I need to do to set up APRS? and can I run packet or just APRS with this unit?
I also have installed on my laptop AGW packet engine, UISS, hamscope, and FLDigi.
any comments on this? what is known about this tnc?

You might get a manual from: http://www.paccomm.com/
Yes, it will do ordinary packet as well as APRS.

I had been to that site and contacted them. what they wanted to do was sell me new equipment by saying that the little tnc is so old.. blah blah. yeah I know its old but if it'll work for what I what then its fine.
I also know that its a VHF/UHF tnc. so I guess I can't hook it up to a hf radio. or could I?
that's one of the things I'd like to find out.

You need 300 baud to run on HF and I'm pretty sure the Pico only works 1200 baud. It's odd that they can't provide any info because its so "old" and yet they still offer it for sale on their web site :-)
