Hi Guys,
I've got a SignaLink USB ordered and look forward to using it on RTTY with a Yaesu FT-1000-MP with has 250hz & 500hz filters.
This will be my first time on RTTY. Any recommendations?
Please advise what RTTY software works best with the SignaLink USB & FT-1000-MP. Is MMTTYY one of them?

Dick- K9OM

MMTTY is the RTTY decoder/encoder used by N1MM Logger, which is a heavily-used contest logger.
Since RTTY is (in practice) a "contest-only" mode, a good-sized fraction of people using RTTY are using MMTTY as well.
MMTTY does a good job "out of the box". I suggest changing one default option -- turn on "Double Shift" in the "Options | TX" screen. It'll make your signals more readable.
There's a good introduction to RTTY here:
http://www.aa5au.com/gettingstarted/rtty_start_intro.htm
My latest RTTY story:
I'm running 100 watts into an attic dipole, in Vancouver BC, Canada. I just got an e-mail from a short-wave listener in the Netherlands. He heard me -- on 20m RTTY -- working a station in the Ukraine in last weekend's RTTY contest. And _he_ was using a mag loop antenna!
I love the mode.<g>

You might also try WinWarbler, which uses MMTTY as an "engine", wrapping it with a more powerful user interface and macro capability.
WinWarbler is a member of the free-ware DXLab Suite, and interoperates with its components (e.g. Commander for transceiver control, DXKeeper for logging, SpotCollector for DX and WWV spot collection, etc.)

I'm told it does not support LOTW. Is this correct? If so, then that's what I'd ask for!

Real ops learn how to use a caps key.
Real RTTY ops use FSK. DM780 does NOT support FSK.
DM780 will never be a player in the RTTY world without supporting FSK.

I have tried all the RTTY software out there. Mixw is good but not free.
MMTTY is very good and free. Use FSK if your transciever supports it.

I would agree with this this except Win Warbler is much harder to figure out. A newbie should figure out MMTTY first as it takes a little fiddling to get everything right. MMTTY has a simpler interface than Win Warbler.
Once you are comfortable with MMTTY then I would give Win Warbler a try.
One thing REALLY stands out for me with MMTTY and Win Warbler. That is the X/Y tuning Scope. There is NO easier way to tune in a RTTY signal. Especially in a contest the tuning Scope is invaluable.
To AA6YQ: Thanks for all the work you do, freely. I especially appreciate the improvements to MTTY and the seamless way it works with N1MM logger.

I started out using MMTTY, but was impressed with HRD & DM780 when I finally installed and configured it. Now that I seem to do regular contesting, I have given up using DM780 for RTTY and went back to MMTTY. Reason being is that the logging software I use, Win-Test, much like N1MM use MMTTY during RTTY contests.
