I have the Dentron GLA 1000B HF amplifier that does not work. I get the 1100 plate current voltage but when the relay kicks in, even on the dummy load, the swr goes off the scale. Does anyone know what or where I should look to repair this?
Thanks,

What do you mean, "the SWR goes off the scale?"
The GLA1000B has an internal SWR meter? I didn't think so. Does it?

Where are you measuring the SWR? From the amp to the 50 ohm dummy load, or from the transceiver to the amp? Did the amplifier work before now? What is the power rating of the SWR meter?
You have to describe your setup and problem in more detail before anyone can help you.

Usually the problem is bad tubes.
Dentron actually runs the tubes at or beyond the safe dissipation limit without any drive, and most models let the tubes run that way on standby.
Making it worse, the tubes are almost impossible to obtain sweep tubes.
You could have a different problem, but statisically the tubes are the most likely thing to fail. A close second is hooking the amp up wrong.

Ray, You have an ideal beginning to a great new project. Toss out the sweep tubes and convert the amp to use the Russian transmitting ceramic GI-7Bs. You can keep your tuned input board and buy PCBs for the power supply / voltage doubler from FAR Circuits. Note the following link for using 2 tubes:

And another link for using a single tube:

And more information here:

The conversion will transform an outdated amp to a modern piece of equipment you can be proud to use. Respectfully, Johnny W4XKE
