4:1 Balun Reply

I need to make a balun to match 50 ohms to 12.5 ohms. The frequency is in the 2 meter band.

I have worked with HF toroid type baluns and familar with coax type baluns.

I need to make 2 baluns for a one time experiment.
I need some help with this...and ideas or directions.

Thank you in advance.

How much power does it have to handle?

Which impedance is unbalanced and which is balanced? Does the balanced side need to be ground referenced (like a ceter tapped transformer)?

Do you really need a balun or can you use a straight impedance transformation?

Maybe a little more about what you're trying to do would be helpful?

A very simple way to do it is explained here:

(click on "The DZ7ZB-Match" near the top on the left side.)

Basically you use two quarter-wave sections of 50 ohm coax
in parallel to make a 25 ohm line (to provide the impedance
transformation), then coil the coax into a choke to
perform the balun function.
