Help IC706 probem Reply

Please help. Someone with a IC706 schematic may be able to help me. I think a surge protector blew out. Its right at the HF antenna connector on the circuit board. It in series with the center conductor of the coax. Its white and has 2P-50 and a number 301 below that. Its open and my transmitter has zero output into a good antenna. Anyone one know the specs on this part and who makes it? It looks like a fat stubby diode.

I haven't purchased their $75 manual yet, but I suspect you have other problems. Unless I miss my guess, that part is a capacitor, and it should be open to DC. And even if it were the problem, the 706 is a difficult radio to repair unless you have the tools to do it safely. I'm not an advocate of sending radios to the factory for repair, but...

There is no surge protector in line with the RF output.

What are your other symptoms?
