Who knows who has the, or sell's an adapter for a Audio Tech. ATR30 MIC, for the IC-706MKIIG plug, for use as the MIC? Thanks.

The Audio Tech. ATR30 MIC uses a XLR male connector and needs a female connector to interface the microphone t othe ICOM RADIO. You will need to use a .i uF capacitor in series to isolate the bias microphone hot connection to the microphone input. In addition you will also have to add a PTT line to key the radio.

The XLR jack connections are:

1 Chassis ground (cable shield)

2 positive polarity terminal ("hot")
3 return terminal[2] ("cold")

The IC-706 connections are:

My Radio Shack Cable Colors versus Pin Number
Color Pin # Function
Blue 1 +8 VDC
Orange 2 Freq. Up/Down
Black 3 AF Output
Red 4 PTT
Green 5 Mic. Gnd
Yellow 6 Mic.
Brown 7 Gnd
Gray 8 Squelch

You will need the Mic Ground return-Pin 5
Mic. Hot- Pin 6
Shield-Pin 7
PTT Pin 4 to Pin 7 for XMIT

Bob Heil has the adapter as a stock item:

www.heilsound.com

You should read "All Things ICOM" on his site. He suggests leaving the IC-706 speech compressor "on", to get some extra mic gain, when using a dynamic mic like the ATR-30.
