Tom,
Not sure what IF the TS140 uses, but it must be an 8.83 Mhz IF for the SM220 to work with it. I wanted to do the same thing with my TS850/SM220 combo, but didn't require the pan function. I tapped off the 8.83 IF in the 850 and feed that signal into the vertical input on the SM220. This allows me to monitor the other stations signal on the scope. I am not really interested in the pan operation. I'm sure something can be done for the pan function provided you have either the BS-5 or BS-8 pan display module in the SM220.

TS-140S/680S IF's are 40.055 MHz and 455 kHz. Neither BS-5 or BS-8 panadapter modules for the SM-220 will work with these IF's.

Pete's got it right as far as the pan-adapter is concerned - so no-dice on the bandscope.
However, the SM-220 is still VERY useful for all of its other functions (TX MONItor, exciter/amp linearity TRAP function, RTTY tuning, standard OSCilloscope mode, etc.). The OSC mode can be use to monitor the narrowband IF envelope like a previous poster has stated, but you'll have to dig into the 140 to pickoff a buffered version of the IF signal to drive the vertical input of the scope.
