Hi guys,
I think I have some interference problem.
I am a beginner using my handy Kenwood th-22at. I have to use the repeater to communicate in my area.
The problem is this. My oomputer when switched on seems to interfere at my radio transmit frequency. I used to be able to reach the repater from my room itself.
Any reason hy my comp is interfering and how to eliminating the problem?
Mycomp is same with on board sound.AGP video. External USB ADSL modem. I dont know whats the fault as I didnt change any hardware.
thx
VJ

It is common for a computer to get into your receiver and and make it difficult to hear the repeater. In order to block your transmit signal the computer would have to be putting out more power than your transmitter (assuming they are the same distance away from the repeater) and that's not very likely.

There are two standards for the amount of EMI permitted from a computer, one for home units and a looser standard for business equipment. Most computers are designed as business equipment, and most custom (or home assembled) configurations are never checked for proper EMI performance.
The ARRL has an excellent book on RFI. Get a copy and apply the principles it outlines.

As AA4PB correctly pointed out, reception is much more likely to be affected by computer RFI. Maybe you ARE getting into the repater after all, but cannot hear its response?
Greetings to 9V1! (Just spent my vacation there...)
