DX-70 Connector Part Number? Reply

Anyone have the manufacturer and part number for the 5-pin male connector that mates with the ACC (antenna tuner control) connector on the Alinco DX-70?

I don't have an Alinco, but I would venture to guess that the connector you are describing is a DIN connector. They are widely used in communications, or atleast all of my HF radios, EQ, etc... has had them.

Here is a chart with pictures. You can purchase them from there also if you wish, however, Radio Shack also used to carry them in their "parts bins".

Bob, try AES in Vegas. They should have it in stock.

It doesn't look like a DIN connector in the picture - looks closer to a Molex.

Alan, what I am looking for is the original mfg and part number so I could purchase a quantity of them from Digikey or Mouser. The connector from Alinco would likely come with the cable supplied for the EDX-2 tuner. I've had some requests about using my Icom/SGC tuner interface with the DX-70. It appears that the DX-70 electrical interface is the same as Icom but the connector is different.

I did send an e-mail off to Alinco but haven't received a response yet. Thought perhaps someone here might have been down that road an know.

Thanks,

Bob

You're right Bob, the Alinco and Icom are the same and can be mixed or matched if you have the connector. I got one of the connectors from AES last year to help out a friend who already had the AH4. I don't suspect they would have a large quantity, but they might tell you who they got them from. I did look in Digi-Key's catalog and didn't see the exact one. Maybe Mouser, who knows?

Alan, does it look the same as the Icom molex tuner connector except 5 pins instead of 4 pins (pointed on one end)? The MFJ tuner manual looks the same on the drawing but of course that doesn't necessarily mean much. MFJ also wants to cell the whole cable and provides no information on the connector.

What I want to do first is get an interface ready to go and let someone try it out. Can't really afford to purchase an DX-70 just to try it out.
