Does anyone have any experience interfacing and using the AOR SDU-5600 Spectrum Display Unit with a Ten-Tec RX-340 DSP HF Receiver (or any other spectrum display unit)? TNX 73 DE AA9KK

The AOR SDU-5600 works off of the 10.7 MHz IF and communicates with the host AR5000 or AR8600 receivers. As such the communication protocol of the TenTec is unlikely to be able to receive information as where to have the TenTec tune it’s front end converter. This unit was designed to work with only the AR5000 and AR8600 receivers.

I believe the AOR family of SDUs will display signals and spectrum from non-AOR receivers, including Icom. The SDU, however, may not be able to control a non-AOR rig as it does with the 5000 and 8600. In any case, the receiver must incorporate a 10.7Mhz IF plus an IF output port to interface to the SDU.

Hi,
e-mail Kevin Nice (editor Shortwave magizine) He did an article on this and how to convert a Rx some months ago. I read it but cannot find the copy now.
