This beacon my be interesting to the FoxHunting community. Although it was designed to track rockets, no reason it couldn't be used for foxhunts! It's small, relatively inexpensive, and would last for DAYS on a 9V battery. I booked marked that one. I want to do 70m RDF so I can use a smaller antenna than for 2m. I would like the experience of building a transmitter from a kit. Anyone have any pointers to one. If I use the beeline it seems all I need is the $59 transmitter.

I don't offer these as kits -- getting all of the little SMD parts taped to a piece of paper is almost as much work, if not more, than putting together a complete unit. Then there's the whole calibration issue.... Yes, the $59 transmitter is all you need to get on the air for 70cm. You'll need to supply your own battery and a TTL level converter if you wish to modify the TX parameters. On a related note, I will soon be making available a 2 meter APRS transmitter that integrates a GPS, 1200 baud APRS modem, frequency agile FM radio, and 1 to 4 watt RF amplifier -- all integrated onto a single board. www.bigredbee.com 73, Greg K7RKT
