CAT-cable for Yaesu FT-747GX Reply
by DB5AG on April 6, 2005 Mail this to a friend!
Please help! I wish to homebrew the CAT-cable for the FT-747GX and I was unable to find a schematic for it. This cable has a 9-pin SUB-D connector and a 6-pin(DIN?) connector, I am not sure, but I I think so. Maybe it is someone who knows the right adress to find the schematic. I think, I need only this cable, not an interface...
I am also searching for the 4-pin connector for the DC-power cord, for the same rig. Thanks!

Hi Clint, thanks for help! I am sure this link is useful, but I need the schematic of the CAT-cable, not the of the interface. The rig seems to be CAT-prepared, so I need only the cable. I alo need to be sure, that the cabel is made for FT747GX, just to eliminate any short-risk.

When I see the diagram of the interface for Yaesu on this link, it appears an etxra wire for 12V, this is not part of the 6-pin DIN-connector. This is one problem. The other problem is, that if I try to eliminate the interface, I don't know which pin from the left side corresponds to which pin from the right-side, it is like in this movie with Mel Gibbson, "red or blue?"

Hi Clint,
yes, I think so: the "GX" is the CAT version. The seller said, it is CAT-prepared and I have seen a module inside which can be the CAT module. I am sure to have seen CAT-cables on the market(without interfaces), but as homebrewer I would feel honoured to make one myself, insted to pay f.e. 40 USD for a cable.

Hi Gabriel(db5ag),

Just wandering how did you come out with your homebrew
project for the CAT-cable for Yaesu FT-747GX. I just picked up this rig and will try to homebrew the cable.
I know it's been some time since your last post, so if
you have any info also about which software to use would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance
Best 73's
