Edsyn vs Weller

In the flea market at Dayton there was a vendor selling soldering equipment. He recommended the Edsyn soldering stations. I've always used Weller in the past, but my current station is 25 years old, so things have probably changed quite a bit.
Can anyone compare or contrast Edsyn vs Weller?
I'm looking for a unit that will support me moving forward into surface mount and the new smaller scale assemblies.
Thanks,
Bernie

I've used a Weller WTCPT soldering station for years. I just replaced it with a Circuit Specialists soldering station (WTCPT finally died) that only costs $40. There is also a SMD tweezer-type soldering iron that you can buy that goes with the Circuit Specialist soldering station that costs $30 and really works well. And if you buy $50 or more, Circuit Specialists even offers a very nice free DVM.

Not sure what might have changed, a hot stick is a hot stick. I've been using the same station for nearly 20 years, good for everything from Heathkits to 0603's and TSSOP's. The iron doesn't have the skill, it's the hand that's holding it. You can mess around with solder paste and hot air or toaster oven reflow if you're going to mess around with homebrewing surface mount but for general SMD repair and assembly I use the same Weller I've had for years.

I decided to give the Edsyn a try. It has twice the wattage as the similar priced Weller which comes in handy with larger connectors. I won't give up my big bertha iron for 259s, but more wattage can be handy some times.
I googled around and talked to some pros in the rework industry and they gave them a good recommondation.
I'll use it a bit and then post a review here.
