I just switch from water soluable to resin core solder and I'm wondering what's the best way to clean up. Is there a common chemical that's less toxic that will clean off the flux? I've tried the spray solution from Radio Shack but it gets expensive. Is there a better way?

As close to 100% isopropyl alcohol as you can get. I found some 90% at the drug store (rubbing alcohol) but the stuff I use at work is 99.9%.

Great, that's a BJs or Sam's Club kind of thing. That should cut the cost down greatly.

Denatured alcohol---you can't beat it. A whole gallon costs around $15 here in Los Angeles and it will dissolve a lot of flux. Works great for cleaning vinyl-coated wire too.

I was in the tv/vcr repair business for years and used acetone and a toothbrush to clean flux. Does a great job
