Hello people, first post here, please be patient.
I am planning to build the Ten Tec 1054 3 band regen receiver. I have 3 questions for those who have already build or seen it.
1) Is it good enough to learn CW?
2) What kind of box does it require? Is it easy to find an enclosure that fits it or do I have to order the Ten tec enclosure?
3) What are the power requirements? Is it true that it requires two 9v batteries IF I wanted to use mains, what kind of current and voltage do I need?
Thank you
Ottavio

1. This is a really "low end" 3-band regenerative receiver. It does not have much selectivity, and also has no BFO nor product detector; it's mostly good for "AM" reception, and not CW nor SSB.
However, if you adjust the REGEN control very carefully, you can copy CW with it. It takes practice.
2. I'd go for the Ten Tec enclosure for $9, it's worth it. You might find something equivalent at Radio Shack or elsewhere, it will be about the same price.
3. The unit can be powered by anywhere from 9v to 12v DC at 150 mA. A small "wall wart" power cube, provided it's very well filtered and not just a "charger," will work fine.
