Most VE groups will let you take another exam at the same session, if you want, although some VE groups reserve the right to withhold a second test if you missed passing by more than a few questions. And there's generally no limitation regarding how soon you can attend another session, regardless of whether it's given by the same VE group or a different one.

Most VE Teams have several vrsions of the written test for each class of license.
Should you or any of your friends fail to pass the first time around you can ask the VE Team if they would not mind giving your a second chance. OF COURSE you will have to fill in all that paperwork and pay another testing fee.
IF you or your friends fail by just a question or two, the VE Team has anohter version of the written test on hand, and of course the VE team thinks you just might pull it off given a 2nd chance what the heck ask.
Every VE Team I have had the provledge to serve on has had at least 2 if not more versions of the same license test for those wishing to retake the test. IF the person came close to passing no request for a retest immediately has been rejected. Its all in general up to the VE Team, but most teams try to give each person testing an optimum legal opportunity for passing.
OHHHH and by the way, you might want to take the next level written test for if nothing else 'Just to See' what it looks like. And even if you dont pass you will have a heads up as to what to expect on the next written test--it takes a little of the pressure off.
