I just downloaded Iom's newest comic for kids that is designed to promote interest in amateur radio. In the new comic book, the kids are taking a DXing trip to a small island chain off the coast of Washington State to put one of the IOTA islands on the air. There is a scene in the comic where one of the kids wants to try working some stations on 40 meters(page 14.). The kids are tuned to 7.075, and they start calling CQ, USING PHONE! Did I miss something here? The last time I checked, 7.075 was in the CW portion of 40 meters. The odd thing is that a station actually comes back to them on this frequency, also using using phone.
One more error that Icom apparently missed, the display on the radio reads 14.195. I thought they were using 40 meters? I know this is just a comic book, but it would be nice if Icom did a little proofreading next time they publish a comic for kids. I hope they aren't designing and building radios the same way they publish comics!

7075's in the phone band, if you're in Japan.
This was a test, and you passed.

There's also a flying pig-thing and W7GWU is *CLEARLY* just VK3FIAN with glasses.
What is ham radio coming to?! How will the new hams learn anything.
Flying pig-thing.
Pfft.
;-)
7075 is an innocent mistake; it's in the phone band in a lot of places...

In most of the world the 40m band runs from 7000 to 7100 kHz (though
it looks like that may get extended to 7200 kHz in the near future.)
So 7075 is the middle of the phone band.
Did they say how FAR off the coast of Washington this island was? If
it is far enought to put it in IARU Region 3 (including Hawaii I think)
then 7075 is an acceptable SSB frequency. Otherwise we can just assume
they are working split and the rig is displaying their receive frequency
while they transmit up at 7210 or so.
