VHF/UHF antenna mount ? Reply
by K7PEH on September 2, 2008 Mail this to a friend!
I have been looking (now and then) for a mount for my VHF/UHF antenna (a single dual-band whip, about 3 feet or so, I forgot the name). My mount though is a little awkward to describe -- I would like a base mount that I can permanently attach to the cab of my truck near the roof but on the back side. Actually, not far from the upper-left corner of the rear window (thus, driver's side).

At this location though, the cab is not absolutely straight, it is starting the curve around to the roof edge -- am I explaining this right?, I should take a picture. So, I would like a mount that I can easily remove (unscrew) my antenna when I am moving through low ceiling areas but it must be able to adjust (such as on a gimbal of sorts) to stand vertical on a sloped surface. Also, as small as practical too.

Phil, I'd just use an angle bracket. Larsen has both chrome and black models for the NMO base. I do know AES has them in stock. They cost about $12.

I'm assuming you're using the NMO2/70BK (or similar)
