High noice level on HF mobile Reply
by WB0DMA on September 3, 2008 Mail this to a friend!
When the car is running I have about an S7 noise level and can only hear very strong stations on 20 meters. DSP seems to help some. When parked with the engine off the noise level drops. The radio is connected directly to the Battery.
This is a new install on a 96 Saturn, Hustler antenna, Icom 706.
Any Suggestions? Tim

Got to my web site and look under Noise ID. I suspect it is ignition noise, and if it is, you need to do some noise abatement, including bonding.
