Hello everyone,
Has anyone here had experience with the LM-300 or similar radio mount. I am going to be remote mounting my 8900 and D700 in my truck and not sure what I should do. I do know that they make mounts that fits in the cup holders.

While I have not used that particular mount, I have used several other "gooseneck" style mounts for installed cell phones and land mobile control heads. The do work and are fairly solid.
That said, 15" is pretty long and I imagine it will be on the "floppy" side with any real weight on the end of it. I would much rather use a 6 to 8 inch model, screwed to the transmission hump or floor or even the side of the driver's seat.
I would NOT use anything that sticks in the cup holder. They WILL come loose in an accident.
Actually, I prefer to bolt directly to the dash, if at all possible.

I agree with Lon. A gooseneck is great for just a single head, but even the best of the best (Gamber-Johnson) is a little floppy with anything that weighs over 3 pounds.
You might look at the Photo Gallery on my web site under Other Installs for ideas.
Also, read the Mounts article.

I have the head to my 8800 mounted on the windshield with the RAM mount that once held my GPS.

Chris, you want to make sure the mount is out of the way of the SRS (airbag). If it isn't, and it does off, it'll sling the control head like a brick!

Ben,
Check out Alan's photo gallery under KG6WLS 021. I'm still using this setup.

Yes, it's WELL clear of any airbag deployment. If you look at the link I provided, the picture shows the radio head above the dashboard.
