I'm having some trouble getting good SWR on my 40M Hamstick. The documentation from the manufacturer says that this is not uncommon and recommends using an inductive match at the base of the antenna. Is the inductor basically a cheap and simple way to match to the antenna or is it really a better way to match than using a tuner at the radio?

follow the advice of the stick co..tap down the inductor at the base of the antenna... see any copy of the ARRL antenna manual.. gud luck kevin kb2wig

Try the capacitive matching box that MFJ sells (abt $20). On 75 & 40 it really makes a difference. good luck, Joe

A .50 cent surplus 300/400 pf/600 volt mica cap between the antenna base connection and ground will do it as well..
