I need to "wind my own" HF antenna, much like a Hamstick. The frequency is 4.469mhz. Any information on doing my own would be of great hlp. Thanks. Scott

I don't know if you plan on transmitting on that frequency, but I used a bicycle flag whip as the support. I wound the amount of wire I figured for the frequency I wanted plus about 10% on the flag whip. The I wound the wire so it was tightly wound at the base and loosened as I reached the top of the whip. I used #14 enameled wire and placed heat shrink over it after I got it all wound and looking fairly good. I made a trifilar toroid balun using a T-200 form for the toroid from Amidon and fed that with RG-58U coax (My last paperback 1997 ARRL handbook has it on page 20.28 for the coil). It receives across all the bands and although I don't use it to tranmsit here in Las Vegas, I did use one like it in Anchorage with an MFJ tuner. It is only about 6 1/2 feet tall and has the bicycle mount you can use to attach it where you need it to be. I use it also with my NC-109 when I listen to the AM broadcast bands as well ( Rush comes in great! ) 73, Frank KL7IPV

Why don't you find a Hamstick for 75 meters and just cut the top whip until you resonate.You will only have to cut a few inches off. I find Hamsticks for $5 to $10 bucks all the time.
