6M Beam and Loop distance above Van Roof? Reply
by W1XLR on July 10, 2001 Mail this to a friend!
Getting my 6M radio soon and planning my ant. installation. I'm planning on getting a Horz. Loop and a 3 elm. beam. After looking at photos and reading about them I'm a little confused about the loop. I have seen some mounted inch's above the roof and most on a mast? What is the min. distance from the roof I can operate from. If I put a mast on my Van with the loop on top and the Beam under it what is the min. distance from the lower beam. Also I know Vert. is for FM Horz. is SSB what do AM operators use? Thanks for you comments.

p.s. I know the beam has to be a wavelenghth or so away from the roof of the Van. just trying to think of best config.
